Offroad Day 1 Recap

Today, after much anticipation, the green flag flew shortly after Noon CST. There was a short wait period in staging as the chemo drugs were prepped, and anti nausea oral medication were administered. I was well prepared. Fully stocked with an organic bento box loaded for bear. Lunch for the trail courtesy of my wife Kate.

Overall race time (chemo infusions) was just a touch over 4 hours. I was also sent home with a portable pump that will finish up over the next 46 hours with a drug

aptly named "5FU". I have my inclination what the FU stands for. Time will tell. Below is a pic of my pump. I am hoping Petro will continue to wear his European man bag at the races, so that I won't be the only one sporting such a satchel.

It is now just a few minutes past 20:00 CST. I'm feeling surprisingly normal. Sometimes this is very typical after an off-road day that seems to have gone smoothly. However, as my fellow racers know, it's the day after, and sometimes 2-3 days after that tell the real story of what exactly you did to your body, and how you will recover. I have noticed some very slight sensitivity to cold.

Either way, I am at home and feeling surprisingly normal. Working on prepping some plastics to fix Tobin Millers bike tomorrow so that we can race prep it for YellowBush Hard Scramble this weekend, and peeling some old graphics off a set of number plates for when Nick Wortham's graphics show of for the bike I am lending him for Battle of the Goats in a few weeks.

Cheer's everyone.

Today I have enjoyed thinking about some good lyrics from a wise man named Jerry Garcia. "Their walls are build of cannon balls, their motto is don't tread on me"

One Week Post-Op

One week ago today, I was coming off a 30 hour bowl prep, on my way to the hospital for the big surgery. Today I am sitting on my couch...
