Time for a Liaison Stage

I have come to the realization I need to get this blog quickly to the current point I am at in diagnosis and treatment. When you need to be efficiently transferred a long distance in an offroad race to the more difficult sections that actually matter, they often call it a "Liaison Stage" or "Liaison Section". That is what this blog will be, and this is also what the past week and a half have been since hearing the not so friendly words like "Cancer", "Lesions", and "Chemotherapy".

Upon hearing my CT scan results, and the initial impressions of the doctors who had viewed the images, my mind has been going to many different directions. Many thoughts and emotions. Many unanswered questions and uncertainty.

Over the next week or so I continued to have more tests. Most importantly an MRI of my abdomen, as well as a biopsy of the lesions in my liver. The colon tumor had already been biopsied during the colonoscopy.

Here is what I believe I know.

  1. I have Stage IV Colon Cancer - Specifically adenocarcinoma. Supposedly this is the most common form of this devil disease.

  2. It has metastasized (spread) to my liver.

  3. It i unlikely that this was genetic.

  4. I will be undergoing chemotherapy sooner than later.
